Sometimes my pieces are one-offs, but sometimes I develop a collection associated with a particular place.
My first collection of scarves is inspired by Antarctica: the sea ice, glaciers, ocean, grasslands and whaling stations. I visited the island of South Georgia in 1998/1999 and was blown away by the wildlife and scenery.
My second collection of scarves is inspired by a visit to Gujarat, India, in 2016. We visited artisans in their own homes and saw a rich array of weaving, printing and embroidery, using traditional methods and equipment.
